Arezzo & Cortona

The charm of the historical centre of this Italian town, Arezzo, is due to its fascinating side views, straight streets and contorted alleys.
It used to be Etruscan under the rule of King Porsenna, then Medieval, today has gained international fame within the sphere of various sectors: jewellery, leather, clothing.

As we go towards the eastern part of Valdichiana we arrive in Cortona. The irregular and steep streets of the medieval centre have remained unspoilt throughout the centuries and have their maximum expression in Piazza of the Repubblica and in the neighbouring Piazza Signorelli.
Very close to Cortona there is the Monastero delle Celle founded by Saint Francis in a suggestive and scenic position.
